We’ve been meaning to type up a post on How To Get Free TV Tickets, but haven’t gotten around to it until today.

Since we’re a stones throw from Los Angeles we’ve gone to several TV Tapings over the years: Oprah’s Oscar Special (hello Julia Roberts!), Dick Clarks’ Rockin New Years Eve, Price Is Right, Rosie O’ Donnell Show and more.

Tickets are always free and we have a blast!

TIPS:

1. Many TV Shows specials are announced in advance so you’ll know when to come back and request tickets. They sell out within minutes so you must be fast.

2. Tickets are usually released 30 days before the scheduled show date and the popular shows fill up quickly.

3. Know what your plans are. Many TV Show Tapings require you to enter the attending parties names when you request them. They are non-transferrable so PLAN, PLAN, PLAN.

4. These websites are updated daily around 8:30am so check in often if there is a specific show you want tickets for.

5. You don’t have to live in Los Angeles or New York. Many of the Reality Shows or News Programs travel around the county, so check out the “Show Location” tab to see if anything is coming near you.

6. Join Wait Lists. Not only does this secure your place in line, but they also keep you posted via email. This way you’ll know in advance when new tickets will be released, requirements and all the good stuff. Joining the Wait List is not a bad thing.

7. Plan to be there all day. Most shows are 30 minutes to 1 hour, but the taping takes much longer. Plus, they need to check you in, ask prep questions (game shows), get everything situated + more. Our Price Is Right trip was a 4 hour long process.
